The world is afraid to link the Islamis religion with being “radical”. I am sorry to say Islam is a radical religion and is not a religion of peace. I wonder why the papers are afraid to publish this article? FOXnews is reporting that last week an article was published poking fun at Jerry Falwell. I am certainly not a Falwell apologist, but the message is clear. Christians are fair game, but Muslims are not.

Some of the biggest news of late is the presidential election of ‘08.  We all wonder who will win the nominations of the Republican and Democrat party.  We assume that Hillary or Barak Bin Obama will win the democrat nomination, but what about the Republicans.

If you are anything like me your worry is that there is not a strong conservative candidate out there…yet.  Rudy G, is the front runner and he may have some great potential in some typically liberal states.  I don’t think he can win though. Moreover, I don’t know if he can rally the conservative base, which is huge.  His stances on abortion, gun control and gay marriage scare conservatives.

Fred Thompson has not announced yet, but he already has my support.  I believe he is a true conservative and reminds me a bit of Ronald Reagan.  He has experience as a Senator, but is still seen as a Washington outsider.  He has strong conservative values.  He is climbing up the polls and he hasn’t even announced yet, however I expect he will announce soon.  Conservatives do not need to settle for the lesser of two evils.   For me if Rudy G. wins the nomination and runs against Hillary or Obama, I would vote for Rudy, but it would be more a vote against the democrat rather than a vote for Hillary.  It would be a vote for the lesser of two evils.  Fred Thompson can really mobilize the strong Christian base in America and I believe people will come out of the wood work to prevent a Hillary administration.

There is a potential conservative in Fred, who by the way is a church of Christ member.  Fred Thompson is a strong Reagan conservative, who hopefully will run, win the nomination, and take on his greatest role since Law and Order.   Fred Thompson may be the hope that we have of a strong conservative that will not build a big government, who will stand on principles, who will protect our freedoms, who will stand up to the liberal congress, who will stand strong against our enemies.  Fred Thompson is the best reoublican candidate, perhaps the only true conservative candidate, and likely the only Republican able to beat Hillary and that’s just the way it is.

Okay, yesterday President Bush commuted the sentence of Scooter Libby.  My thoughts are not to debate what Scooter Libby did or even the right or wrong in what the President did, my thoughts are on the hypocrisy of the liberals and their comments.

“This commutation sends the clear signal that in this   administration, cronyism and ideology trump competence and justice.” – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y.

I find this one the most humorous considering how many pardons her husband issued.  I planned on posting those pardons, but the list is way to long.  Check out the list of Bill Clinton’s pardons just to get an idea of the amount of them he issued.  The reality is nothing a Republican can do is right in the eyes of a liberal like Billary.  It was fine and dandy when Bill was issuing pradons up to his last minutes in the White House.  Okay, pardons probably weren’t the last things Bill Clinton did in the Oval Office, assuming interns were still around.

The statements go straight down party lines.  Take a look at Democrats with eyes on the white house blasting this decision with vigor (Quotes about Bush commuting Libby’s sentence).  All I can say it the liberal agenda is clear and the hyporcrisy is even more evident and that’s just the way it is.

The Steroids Era June 27, 2007

I love sports.  Along with loving sports I am sort of old fashioned in my love for sports.  I love the games played like they used to be played.   I love the records too.  There are certain records and milestones which are impressive to me.  Baseball is best known for those milestones.  You have your 3,000 hit club, the 500 home run club, and your 300 win club.  reaching one of those milestones nearly ensure being enshrined in Cooperstown.  Certain records draw the attention of people more than others.  Records are made for breaking, but some last a long time and some will never be broken like Cal Ripken’s consecutive game streak.

I have to admit the whole steroid controversy has put a damper on my love for America’s past time.  I love baseball, but it is hard to get excited about records that may be bulked up by the use of steroids.  The steroid argument is coming into the spotlight once again as the most well known record gets broken. That is Hank Aaron’s home run record.  Most likely before too long Barry Bonds will pass Hank Aaron for the all time record.  The question we have to deal with as fans is how will history handle these guys.  The guys that set amazing records.  You know guys like Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and Rafael Palmeiro.  Their statistics alone make them Hall of Famers, but a lot of people are saying they shouldn’t be.  A lot of others are saying they should go in with an asterisks beside their name.

I am not in favor of steroid usage.  I think it has tarnished sports.  I think it is shameful.  I think rules should be in place to prohibit it and punish violations harshly.  However, these guys never broke the rules.  There is no proof.  There is a lot of speculation by people, including me.  I suspect Bonds juiced, I mean come on, look at his physical development since he entered the game.

Do steroids make you a better player?  They may make you hit harder and further, but they certainly can’t make you hit a 100 mph fastball.  Bottom line is these guys who did steroids are still the greatest talents in this era.  They put up great statistics.  I am a huge baseball purest, but I can’t see how you can keep Bonds, Sosa, or even McGwire from the Hall of Fame without proof, without a failed test, without an admission.  I am not a Barry Bonds fan, but I think he deserves a little more attention for what he is about to do.  He is about to break baseball’s greatest record and Bud Selig, baseball’s commissioner is debating on whether to be there, come on.  Again, I don’t support steroid use, but for a guy that loves the game, pay attention because we are seeing history in the making and we are probably still seeing some of the best to ever grace the field and that’s just the way it is, like it or not!

Censorship… June 25, 2007

The first ammendment read this way…

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

There are two separate bills in the works which I believe would hinder free speech.  The first is the “fairness doctrine” bill.  This bill is aimed to attack the conservative talk radio and force them to give both sides of an issue.  Democrat Senator Finestein has said publically that she thinks the bill would be a good idea.  In fact she said, “I remember when there was a fairness doctrine,” she said, “and I think there was much more serious correct reporting to people.”  If that isn’t slanted I don’t know what is.  Has she listened to the liberal slant of CNN, NBC, CBS and ABC???  The fairness doctrine wouldn’t be aimed at them because they report what the liberals want to hear.  The bills would be aimed at the Rush Limabughs and the Sean Hannitys out there.  No wonder those guys on talk radio are the target, they have a large and continually growing conservative audience that speakout loudly against liberals and exposes their faults.  I believe censorship is a lousy idea and a violation of our first ammendment rights.

Secondly, senate bill S 1105 proposes another form of censorship.  This bill would target churches and preachers.  The goal would make it against the law to call homosexuality a sin.  It would be illegal to preach on passages like Romans 1 and I Corinthians 6, which call homosexuality a perversion.  This bill owuld call all such speech a “hate crime”.  I see this as a great danger for the church.  Mark my words so that you can tell me I was right years down the road, this is just the start of a persecution against the church.  David Limbaugh wrote a great book titled, “Persecution” about the war liberals are waging against Christianity.  If you doubt me read his book.  Watch and see the day is comign when it will be illegal to speak out.  However, the truth is the truth and sometimes the truth hurts.  Censorship, is just a step away from Socialism or Communism which seeks to enforce people through legislation to think and act the way the government feels appopriate.  Christians need to step up and speak out, if this was targeting the Muslim community the outcry would be loud.  The government is attempting to silence voices it sees as theatening to them.  Therefore, by using a fear tactic they are attempting to silence their opposition.  Censorship will be a big issue we will have to face, and it limits our basic liberties, and that’s just the way it is.

Amnesty Bill June 25, 2007

I heard that there are an estimated 12 million people in this country illegally.  With that in mind congress is working hard to pass an immigration or amnesty bill.  The proposed bill will give those 12 million illegal aliens legal status and a work card.  You may remember, a few weeks ago this bill got shut down because the overwhelming majority of the American people were against this bill.  However, at the urging of our President and a few congressmen, the bill is being discussed again.  I have a big problem with this amnesty bill.

I believe the result of it passing will be devastating.  I am not a prophet, nor the son of a prophet, but I will tell you what will happen if this bill passes.  First, of all our job market will be flooded with people who will compete with Americans for jobs, especially the lower wage jobs.  I guarantee that wages will lower and so will t he standard of living.  This will have a domino affect.  Think how this will affect unemployment and welfare will be flooded!  Where is the money going to come from to provide health care and financial assistance to an extra 12 million plus people?  Can you say major tax increase?

Secondly, we have a duty to secure our borders and this miserably fails at this goal.  I have supported President Bush throughout his presidency, I have backed him in the war in Iraq and the war of terror, but I have to say this disappoints me.  I am so thankful to be an American.  America is the best country in the world.  Millions of people long to come here and live the “American Dream”.  If this bill passes we will be flooded by countless people seeking that opportunity.  The bottom line is that we need to do a better job enforcing our laws at the borders and at the workplace.  We need to enforce sanctions on employers who don’t comply to the law.  I also have to wonder what this will do to our national security…I have to say that this idea of amnesty for people who have broken our laws is ridiculous.  These people have no care or respect for those that have gone through the legal process of immigration.  If people want to come to America, that is great, but let them do it through the legal process.  Let them learn English.  Let them learn American History.  Let them work hard and contribute to society.   My honest opinion is this a ploy from the liberals to get new voters by the millions.  Amnesty for illegal immigrants would open up a whole new can of worms and the bottom line is that it won’t secure our borders, and that’s just the way it is!

Rosie to the Price is Right??? June 16, 2007

Say it ain’t so Bob! I happened to glance at the news today and this article caught my attention, afterall Rosie O’Donnell is hard to miss.  Is it possible that Rosie will be the next host of the popular game show the Price is Right?  I have always been a big Price is Right fan.  Bob Barker has been a fixture on that game show.  I cannot imagine the Price is Right with someone else as the host.  It was hard enough when their announcer Rod Roddy died and they replaced him.  I have always enjoyed watching the Price is Right.  My senior year in college I dropped a class because it interfered with me watching the Price is Right.  I have to say that bringing Rosie O to the show would be a mistake.  I don’t deny it, I just don’t like her.  I think she is over the top liberal.  Her humor and attitude disgusts me.  I will never watch the show again if she becomes the host.  I even lost respect for Bob Barker for endorsing her, but maybe he has started loosing his mind in his old age.  What else should I expect from a tree hugging animal rights activist? Can you imagine Rosie O’Donnell on any show with the word “Right” in the name?  She is so far from right it is not even funny.  Rosie was a lightening rod on The View, what makes anyone think it will be any different on a gameshow.   Besides all of that, Rosie will be way too distracted with the Barker beauties to focus on hosting the show.  If Bob Barker couldn’t control his lusts around those girls there is no way that Rosie will, and that’s just the way it is!

The Next President… June 16, 2007

The thought of this topic scares me to death.  I often wonder who will be the next president of the good ole’ U.S. of A.  Will it be a democrat or a republican?  I guess the answer to that depends on three things.  First, who gets the nominations from their respective parties.   My worry is that the Republicans do not seem to have a strong candidate.  In fact recent polls have said that if the election were held today none of the Republican candidates can beat any of the Democrat candidates.  Even current “republican” front-runner Rudy Giuliani trails Hilary, Obama, and even Al Gore.  The way I see it the race for the Democrat nomination is slightly less complicated.  It comes down to Clinton and Obama, with Tree Hugging Gore holding a chance if enters the race.  My prediction is Clinton will be the one nominated.  Who will she face?  I’d say there are only a few options.  It will come down to Rudy G and Fred Thompson (Sorry McCain and Romney).   The question the Republicans need to answer is which of those guys has the most chance at beating Billary?

Personally, I like Fred Thompson.  He is a fromer Senator and Law and Order star, a member of the church of Christ, and fairly conservative.  He has likeability.  He has the potential to be a Ronald Reagan like fella’.  My fear is many people are so displeased with Bush that a conservative has no chance.  However, I doubt the Hollywood liberal base would move as quickly against Thompson as they did Bush.  I hope Rudy doesn’t get it.  He might as well strap the word “liberal” on his head.  He is pro gun control (sorry Mr. Heston).  He is pro choice.  He is pro civil unions.  He may get the moderate vote, but don’t forget that there really is a huge Christian conservative base in America still and I believe they will move like we have never seen to stand against Hillary and to support a guy like Thompson.  Oh, how life would change if old Newt would just come to the rescue.

Second, the running mate is a key issue more so in ‘08 than usual.  I look for a strong combination of Clinton and Obama from the Democrats.  Can the Republicans match the strength of that?  How would a Thompson/Giuliani combo fair?  I have also heard chatter about someone like Condi Rice being a running mate.  That may negate some of the votes that Clinton will get from being a black female, oh waith she’s not black is she?  I hope the Republican will be smart enough to throw in a solid VP candidate that can maybe help swing some of the minority vote or the blue state vote.  Rudy may be equally as good of a running mate as Condi.

The third issue that will determine who is the next President is the issues themselves.  A poll I saw on Hannity.com polled the issues that people saw as most important.  Number one on the list was Immigration at 45%, number two was the war on terror at 32%.  Homeland security followed with 12% and then came the abortion issue at just over 2%.  I still say that this social issues will be a big issue this election, but look for the immigration issue to be huge.  Also, I think deep down the liberal voters don’t want to tuck tail and run in Iraq, so the war on terror will be big as well.  Don’t fear yet my conservative friends, Hillary is sure to do something stupid before the election showing her true colors and the Democrat led congress is sure to blow up in their face and show America how incompetent they are to run the country. It’s not over for the Republicans in ‘08 and that’s just the way it is.

I’m interested to hear what you think.  Post a message and share what your ‘08 election predictions might be.

Okay world, here it is.  I know that my opinions on various issues don’t hold much weight, but I like to give my opinion anyways.  I have always heard that opinions are like buttholes, everyone has ‘em and they all stink.  Well…my opinions won’t stink so much because they are always right!    People always say that if you want to keep friends don’t discuss politics, religion or sports.  With that said, I am going to do it anyways.  I hope I keep my friends! People are very passionate about those subjects, and I am too!  Therefore, I will dedicate this blog to airing my opinion and telling it like it is on various issues whether they be sports, politics or religion.  Feel free to comment, debate, add fuel to the fire, and if you want to throw in some compliments or insults feel free!  I know that my two cents will really make a difference, and that’s just the way it is!
